Duration – 1 day
Accommodation – Not required or included
Food – None provided
Difficulty Level – 3 – Hard Terrain
The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is a 25-mile circular including 1,500m of ascent and descent and the aim is to complete it within approx. 12 hours.
The start begins with a good leg-loosener as you will be setting out along a fairly easy gradient for three miles with the distinctive anvil shape of Ingleborough, the first peak.
Gradually you will gain height as you follow the snaking route upwards. The summit offers panoramic views across the Dales and on to Morecambe Bay and the Lakes. You will then being your ascent to Yorkshire’s Everest – Whernside at 736 metres.
This hulk of a hill again provides lovely views. As you descend the reasonable easy slope you’ll be able to see across to Ribblehead Viaduct. The viaduct is a half-way milestone as you begin the long low level stage along tracks and field paths towards the final peak – Pen-Y-Ghent (694m).
Once you have reached the summit, it is just a short but steep descent across some fields and back to Horton-in-Ribblesdale for a well deserved drink! *Drinks are not included. Please note: there are two opportunities en-route to purchase refreshments.
Individual Registration is £20 per person/pledge to fundraise at least £150 for Caudwell Children
