A ride through glorious Yorkshire to celebrate The Duke of Wellington’s Regiment as part of the awareness and fundraising events calendar for the Memorial Fund. The route starts in Richmond and makes its way to Halifax over two days.

Riders have the option to meet the night before in York. Basic accommodation is available and they can leave their car and overnight kit and be transferred by coach (bikes in a separate vehicle) to the start. 

Entry includes:

  • 1 or 2 night's accommodation  
  • Ride support
  • Transport to Richmond
  • Transport to York from Halifax 

 An award will be made to the highest fundraiser.  

 For every rider who undertakes the event, a donation will be made to the Memorial Fund of £100 (2 day riders) or £50 (1 day riders).  

T-shirts, cycle tops and/or Regimental caps will be optional extras.


Event details and schedule

Day 1    Richmond to York, 58 miles Saturday evening accommodation and food in Worsley.

Day 2    York to Halifax 63 miles arriving early/mid afternoon and then return by  to York to collect kit.

Riders may want to arrive in York on Friday evening, where basic accommodation is available as part of your entry fee. 

Riders will have the option to ride on one or both days.



Saturday social ride. The Havercake ride (57 miles) via Theakstons Brewery in Masham and then picking up the Way of the Roses route at Boroughbridge into York

Saturday lumpy ride. The Hindoostan ride (75 miles) via the White Horse bank at Kilburn and then onto Castle Howard for a photograph and tea in a "china cup"

The Dukes farewell ride (52 miles)
