Two Big Changes to Mapometer.com
Over the past few months we have been working hard at mapometer.com and we are pleased to announce some improvements to the site.
1. As well as running cycling and walking you can now save routes for mountain biking, canoeing, swimming, horse riding, downhill skiing and cross country skiing. We have had many requests for this feature and we would urge users to change any saved routes in these sports so that they appear correctly in our search engine.
2. We have completely overhauled the training log. Users can now easily see their recent activity and analyse distance, speed, effort, energy used, and time in any chosen period for any route or sport in an easy to use table and graph. Overall, users get a much better overview of their training.

Solution to bug in the training log
Several people reported that the Save button wasn’t working properly when they tried to log a new route. Pressing the refresh button on your browser should solve this. For the more technically minded this was due to browsers caching old JavaScript files from before we updated the site.
Thanks to John and others for help in solving this.
Any other issues please email here.

London Hack, 17th July
Here is a description of this event which takes place on 17th July:
“Starting at City Hall, we go through the historical cobbled streets along the South Bank. We’ll cross Millennium, Blackfriars and Westminster bridges, take in both Hyde and Regent’s parks and up to Primrose Hill. The loop is completed by passing Buckingham Palace and The Mall, winding our way along the Thames and making a final cross at Tower Bridge. It’s a beautiful walk that’ll give even seasoned Londoners a new taste of this amazing city.”
The route has been mapped out on Mapometer.com here (it isn’t quite finished). You can find out more information here.

Half a Million routes now on Mapometer.com
We passed the half million mark last week on Mapometer. Most of the routes are searchable in our Search Engine. Ironically the 500,000 route has been deleted by the user! But here is the 500,001st. The route of the Mougins Half Marathon in France.

Running for Charity
Good luck to everyone running the London Marathon on the 25th April. There are so many amazing stories about people raising money for charity. Here is one of many.
Jennie has been using Mapometer to help her train and is hoping to raise £3000 for the National Autistic Society. She has a little way still to go but you can donate to a very worthy cause here.

Two Oceans Marathon, Cape Town, South Africa
On April 3rd (Easter Sunday) the Two Oceans Ultra and Half Marathons will take place in Cape Town South Africa. Described by the organisers as “the world’s most beautiful marathon”, having visited Cape Town I would have to agree.
We had a look at the Mapometer Search Engine and found the route of the Half Marathon here. Please email info@mapometer.com if you have posted the route of the Ultra Marathon or if anyone has any special routes they would like to share.
